Infertility is often defined as the inability to produce offspring. However, a couple can already be considered infertile if they could not produce a baby after at least one year of solid effort. Needless to say, it can be devastating news for a desperate couple. That is why many of them are eager to know how to get pregnant fast, no matter what it takes. But to increase one’s chances of doing so, the entire scope of the problem has to be understood first.

Pregnancy requires two things: the fertilization of a woman’s egg with the male sperm, and the survival of this fertilized egg in the uterus. When a couple is said to be infertile, there is a problem in one of those factors. Yet in the overwhelming majority of cases, this problem lies somewhere in the first requirement. For instance, the woman’s ovulatory cycle may be erratic, or it may be that the woman’s cervix would not allow passage of the sperm. For the males, their sperm may be too few in number, or may have too many abnormal spermatozoa, or even have a deficient seminal fluid carrying it inwards.

Given the number of things that can go wrong, it should be no surprise why couples sometimes find it hard to reproduce. And understandably, one has to take a multi-factorial approach in an effort to solve this problem. In this regard, one good idea is to have sex every three days. That means two or three times in a given week. This approach will cover two potential problems: slightly low sperm count and erratic ovulation. For the sperm, the basis is that sperm development usually takes place over a span of three days, with the sperm reaching maturity on the third day. Therefore, releasing them every third day will ensure that mature sperms (which have the best chance of fertilizing an egg) are swimming out. As for the ovulation, more frequent sex will mean that sperm is always present when an egg does come out, no matter when it does so.

Another idea is to try and predict the woman’s ovulation period using several methods at once. That’s because when all of those methods say the time is right, then the chances are really high that the time is indeed right. This is infinitely better than just relying on one method, which can be affected by several things. So you would do well to combine fertility charting, an ovulation prediction kit, and cervical mucus monitoring methods at the same time. Plot your personal trends if possible, then have sex accordingly. To increase your chances of success, note the times you had sex and try to adjust them by a day or two if you were unsuccessful.

Lastly, you should consider the sexual act itself. In this regard, it is best to have the most enjoyable sex possible, and doing so in positions which will keep the sperm in the vagina. The basis of the first one is that more enjoyable sex will cause a man to release more sperm, and the orgasmic spasms of a woman is more likely to draw the sperm into the uterus. As for the second one, the basis is that the longer the sperm stays in the vagina, the more chances it has of going into the uterus. So missionary positions, with the woman’s knees kept up after the sex, as opposed to woman-on-top positions, will be best.
